Welcome to Spanish Fort
Descriptions to follow will allow you to take a driving tour through the Eastern Shore. Please remember this is a partial list but we want to share our natural beauty with you.
Originally a French trading post, the Spanish built a fort at the site of the modern-day city in 1780, hence the name Spanish Fort. This city rests on a hill overlooking Mobile Bay, just a short distance to Mobile, Daphne & Fairhope. Spanish Fort incorporated in 1993 and has been expanding rapidly with brand new public schools and retirement areas. There is a large shopping mall anchored with two major department stores, lots of variety of wares, and a large book store chain.
Spanish Fort is largely made up of residential areas which spread along the coastal bluff and trail northward around Mobile Bay’s waterways. This allows for great views of Mobile Bay sunsets as well as panoramic views of the native woods loaded with Civil War history and if you’re lucky some artifacts, too.
Terrain is rolling, closest location to Mobile—history surrounds you. This area is experiencing major growth.
